JOB DESCRIPTION – Role and Responsibilities
Reuters India is looking for an energetic reporter with excellent field snapping skills to cover macroeconomic policy and treasury markets out of New Delhi, reporting to the senior Treasury correspondent. The beat includes doorstepping the finance minister of one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, snapping indicators from grab-and-run situations and standing back to tell the world the story of India’s uneven but exciting economic transformation. It’s a competitive and sometimes hectic beat and the ideal candidate must have the ability to flip from one topic to another at short notice, have a strong grasp on world affairs for visiting finance ministers and central bankers, and be prepared to work some long hours waiting for important cabinet decisions.

A focus on timings and beats & exclusives, good writing skills and well-thought out preparation are a must. The ideal candidate should be a team player who brings their own stand-back story ideas and interview targets to the table, can step in on market reporting when needed and can prioritise a busy news schedule when the senior correspondent is on leave.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS– Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience
An accurate, fast and tenacious reporter with strong writing skills and news judgement. A track record of initiative reporting and breaking news, snapping from news conferences and analytical writing is a must.
Source building, teamwork, diplomacy.
Broad writing experience valued; treasury and/or other financial experience required.
Fluent English spoken and written.  Fluent Hindi a must.
Experience of using Reuters analytical tools to add value to reports and analytical pieces
